Another great day at Spy Camp! Today, the kids navigated their way through lasers, disable "bombs", did a fun experiment, and learned about interrogation. And the CFE was great too! :)
Lasers: A string maze set up in the living room made for an excellent lasers course, the kids making it through in record time. They did, of course, have to be careful of being singed by the deadly lasers, making it all the more fun! ;)
Bombs: For our older groups, we gave them a box full of different colored string that they had to take turns to cut in a certain order, and then open a combination lock. For the youngest group, we played a fun game of "pass the dynamite" (hot potato), which they loved, quickly turning into a silly screaming fest. :)
Experiment: One experiment some groups did was all about density. They dissolved salt into water until they had a saturated solution. Then, they would poor half of the solution into another cup and dilute it, and continued until there were three salt water solutions, all with different concentrations of salts. Then, they put a different color food coloring into each solution, and slowly mixed them together to create different colored layers of salt water. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any pictures! The other experiment was the standard baking soda and vinegar mix, creating a foamy explosion, which the kids loved. :)
Interrogation: Through the game two truths and a lie, the kids learned all about how to figure out when someone is lying. They looked for laughter, fidgeting, ridiculous claims, and so on to figure out which of the three pieces of information was false. And they did pretty well too!
Today's CFE: In today's CFE, each team rushed through the laser course to disable another bomb. Scotland Yard's bomb was a phone that they had to figure out the combination to in order to disable it. All-Star Agents only had the simple combination lock, but it's a tricky lock, so it still took them a while! And Spy Girls quickly ripped out all of the string out of the box, no scissors needed! :) Today's total is:
3) All-Star Agents: 15 pts
2) Spy Girls: 20 pts
1) Scotland Yard: 21 pts
It's still anybody's game! :)
