Our second day of Spy Camp was a success! :) Today at Spy Camp, the kids made secret decoders, did a chemical experiment, learned all about garbology, and did some awesome interrogation.
Decoders: To make the decoder, you cut a piece of cardboard and cut a hole in the middle. Then, you double up a piece of red cellophane and tape it to the cardboard. Simple! But the kids had a lot of fun creating these and then decoding some secret messages. :)
Experiment: Called "Elephant Toothpaste", the kids had a lot of fun playing with this foamy creation. All you need is dish soap, yeast, hydrogen peroxide, food coloring, and an empty water bottle. This creates a chemical reaction and the foam comes bubbling out of the water bottle! A new activity at Spy Camp, this one was definitely a hit.
Garbology: Garbology is the art of gleaning information from someone's trash. Samantha Ozeas created three bags of clean trash (so don't worry about infections or anything like that!) and the kids tried to decide what each piece of trash revealed about the person, and came up with some very insightful things! :)
Interrogation: We also taught the kids about interrogation today. They learned how to read body language to tell when someone is lying, and learned how to catch someone in a lie. Our younger kids played the game "Two Truths and a Lie" and our older kids did some role playing as suspects and interrogators.
Today's CFE: In today's CFE, the kids worked together as a team to only eat the "safe" donut holes rather than the "poisonous" ones (filled with different colored frosting inside). The kids really enjoyed this one, and all of the teams did very well. Today's CFE total is:
2) Stary-Eyed Wolves: 17 pts
2) Secret Spies: 17 pts
1) Gryffindor Kitties: 18 pts
Once again, we had so much fun today at Spy Camp, thanks for coming! :)
Love,
Samantha Ozeas, Samantha Rowley, and Avery Barnes :)
